Corporate Zoo

“In December of 2002, I returned from a business trip to Sydney. The song came about a few months after that. There were people who used to crib about the company and the economy in general. The song interweaves my perspective with theirs. The zebra was me.”

Log on will you
To another day
Swipe in your card
Or they’ll cut your pay

Corporate zoo
And you are fed here
Didn’t they tell you
How to cut your hair

Living in a corporate zoo
This to do, that not to do
Living in a corporate zoo
I love my black shiny shoe

Same old routine
Recurs everyday
You need a break
But you can’t run away

Howling in pain
Noone hears a sound
With family
But still homeward bound

Living in a corporate zoo
This to do, that not to do
Living in a corporate zoo
I love my black shiny shoe

Its a windfall
Of all those dollars
Your wardrobe still
Will have white collars

Market is down
Frown or make merry
Go to Sydney
And be on a ferry

Living in a corporate zoo
This to do, that not to do
Living in a corporate zoo
With elephants, lions and a zebra too
